Environmental Medicine
can be defined as the study of human health in relationship to one's environment to include biological agents (i.e. molds, mites, bacteria, viruses etc.), environmental chemicals, food, water, nutrition, and energy. It utilizes state of the art testing and treatment with emphasis on defining the cause of an illness. Although it is not opposed to utilizing many traditional therapies environmental medicine attempts to provide most, if not all of its therapy in the true Hippocratic philosophy (i.e. to first do no harm). As a specialty area it prides itself in its 'advanced preventive medicine' approach. For more information about the Academy, please contact AAEM.

How Do We Get There?

The Allergy and Environmental Medicine Center offers the latest diagnostic testing. We also offer the most up to date allergy and chemical treatments. The therapies offered are unique to each individual with differing amounts of time needed prior to desensitization procedures if required. Should one need allergy/chemical sensitivity treatments there are two forms available. The primary forms of desensitization are Low Dose antigen (LDA) and Sensitivity Reduction Technique (SRT). Both are excellent ways to safely eliminate symptoms and improve health. LDA has the deepest roots. It takes its origin from EPD, which was developed by Dr. Leonard McEwen in England near fifty years ago. It is very good with patients who are sensitive to many things that they have difficulty identifying. SRT is an acupressure technique designed by Dr. Sherri Tenpenny in Cleveland, Ohio. SRT takes the best from other energy techniques practiced in this country making it beneficial for known allergens and exceptionally easy to do. Neutralization with optimal dose therapy can also be given for most any substance a person is sensitive to.

Oral chelation is utilized for metal toxicities. Oral and intravenous therapy is used to rectify significant malnutritional states. Hormonal evaluation is frequently performed and bioidentical hormones are preferred when needed.
Gastrointestinal evaluation is commonly performed for many disorders due to its direct connection to disease born out of the immune or central nervous systems.

This is a general summary of our diagnostic tools to identify causation and treat in a more natural way. The most important part of what we do though, is to believe in you, the patient, and work with you in a "team approach" to improve your health and well being. If this sounds like it fits into your paradigm, we look forward to seeing you in our office!
